I’m publishing a romance novel!

Hello friends! I know I dropped off the face of the earth, but I’m back with news to share! I signed a contract with Jessica Watkins Presents, an author who offers a boutique publishing experience, for my fictional (and spicy) romance novel! Can you hear my squeals of excitement through your screen? I thought so. It’s a dream come true knowing I’m on the road to becoming a published author. I’ll publish three books in three years. (Wait, what? Faints in disbelief.)

What’s the first book about:

A domestic abuse survivor is driven from her home after a vicious assault and must confront past traumas for the sake of her future.

Synopsis

When life tries to break you sometimes you have to let it. And when the door to your new life is literally locked you get creative and break in. Timid Melanie Davenport doesn’t count on a gun-wielding, small-town sheriff confronting her though.

Sheriff Zack Lawson admits meeting Melanie didn’t go great—note to self, a tiny woman screaming about bubble baths probably wasn’t the crazed stabber stalking the town—but technically, she had been breaking into his home. He’s drawn to the confounding, mysterious woman. But Melanie is terrified of authoritative men like Zack, who’s reminiscent of the dangerous past she’s running from.

What’s next:

I start the review and editing process. I’ll keep you posted on a release date. I’ll also share my inspiration for the story in a future blog post.

Where I’ve been:

Being a mom, wife… and procrastinating (just a little). But I had to binge watch Bridgerton, Virgin River, Obi-Won Kenobi. (Ok, so procrastinating a lot.)

  1. It’s almost been a year since I left news and I’ve spent a lot of time adjusting to the corporate world. I finally feel like I can manage my work schedule without obsessing over not completing my to-do list every day. I used to get anxious because I’m used to hours-long deadlines, not days, or weeks. I have no regrets about leaving news though.

  2. I’ve spent a lot of time editing (and doubting) my book. I swear, one day I’ll shed this ridiculous fear of not being good enough. Any suggestions on how to do that? Haha.

  3. Spending lots of time loving on my boys and family… and navigating behavioral challenges with my oldest. Nothing makes you feel more useless than seeing a loved one struggling and not having an answer to help them.

Where I’m going:

Nowhere! My vow to myself is to make this blog and my publishing venture a priority going forward.

“Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.” Pele

Please be sure to follow my blog and all my social media channels to stay up to date on my writing journey. I appreciate the continued love and support.
